Areas of action

To improve sustainability, living conditions and autonomy through access to essential services in developing countries, by supporting a fair ecological transition and social inclusion for vulnerable communities  in France and around the world.

The SUEZ Foundation supports concrete actions in developing countries to provide sustainable access to essential services (water, sanitation and hygiene) for underprivileged groups. In France, its priorities are a fair ecological transition integrating social inclusion. In 2024, the Foundation will set up an experimental fund to support new responses to environmental and social challenges for vulnerable communities, in countries where SUEZ operates. The Foundation's action is in line with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.
Project selection
As part of its new strategy, the Foundation continues to support projects through its call for projects. To simplify the application process, we are proposing a two-stage application process. The overall selection process is described below.
2 calls for projects will be held per year (for 2024, one call for projects in January and a second expected in June).
Other ways of choosing projects and partners will be deployed in 2024.

A 5 stage selection process

Once received on the Fondation SUEZ homepage (see below), the projects are assessed and accepted using a four-step process. This process is based on assessments by the various instances and employees specialized in voluntary projects and skill-based sponsorship programs.
Call for projects Prequalification
Applicants can submit the first part of their application (presentation of the association and the proposed project) on the dedicated platform accessible from the SUEZ Foundation page during the period provided for in the call for projects schedule.
Validation of pre-qualified projects
The Foundation's team and a committee of expert collaborators will pre-select projects that meet the Foundation's criteria and priorities. A discussion will take place with the pre-selected project leaders to confirm the relevance of the project for support by the SUEZ Foundation.
Call for projects Detailed submission of pre-qualified projects
Pre-selected applicants will be able to complete the second part of their application (supply of supporting documents, etc.) during the period provided for in the schedule for the call for projects concerned.
Evaluation by expert collaborators
Each project is sent to three or four expert employees who volunteer their time to assess the projects. Their assessment is made as objective as possible by applying well defined and shared criteria. Questions and comments are addressed to the association. A meeting between the assessors and the project manager will be held.

Final decision by the Board of Directors to support qualified projects
Projects are submitted to the Board of Directors, which approves or rejects support for the project and votes on the associated financial allocation in the event of support.

Collaborative and committed governance

The management board is chaired by Sabrina Soussan, Chairman & CEO of SUEZ. It defines the strategy, adopts the budget and sets the schedule. It selects the projects for the fund’s support from a list of the projects pre-assessed by the Fonds and the evaluators.

It is composed of 11 members, representing us at Suez, which contributes to the Fonds SUEZ Initiatives, plus a number of independent members, elected for 5 years.
