SUEZ delivers 4 wastewater treatment plants in Poreč, Croatia
With more than 24.000 inhabitants, Poreč is one of Croatia’s most popular tourist destinations. In the summer, the wastewater volume increases significantly due to the multiplication of the population by 6, up to 115.000 people.
National and Local authorities have launched an extensive program to strengthen their wastewater treatment infrastructures. The project is included in a program co-funded by the EU Operational program Competitiveness and Cohesion (74%) and National component (26%).
The achieved facilities have been built for a total capacity of treatment of 137.500 population equivalent.
The wastewater treatment plants with ultrafiltration membranes technology and UV disinfection, produce a depolluted water with the appropriate quality to be reused for agricultural irrigation. All the processes ensure the effluent to comply with the European Union environmental standards and contributes to protect coastal water and groundwater in the region.
The process line of each of the 4 wastewater treatment plants is as follows:
- Pretreatment
- Biological treatment phase (phosphorous, nitrogen and carbon Removal)
- Ultrafiltration membranes
- Desinfection for reuse
